About Simon
Hi, I'm a freelance photographer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I'm not sure when I first started to take the idea of being a photographer seriously. My dad and granddad were both keen amateur photographers so cameras were always around when I was growing up, but really I didn't have much of an interest in photography when I was a kid (although I do vaguely remember my first camera and endlessly forcing my parents to pose together under some trees whilst on holiday). But maybe it all filtered in over time, so when we got to build a pinhole camera as part of an art school project (for some reason mine was bright orange, mounted on a radio controlled car and looked like a Red Dwarf Scutter), play around in the darkroom and develop our own work, it all came together and I figured there could be a future in this...
What Sort of Work Do I Do?
I mainly specialise in Documentative and Commercial work. I particularly enjoy photographing people and objects in their environments, whether that be archaeologists on a dig, a chef in his kitchen or just a gnome at the bottom of the garden. Really, so long as I'm taking photos, learning more and making each one better than the one before, I'm the happiest guy in town...
